Transition to New Billing Payment Processor – Nexbillpay
June 22, 2026
Dear Valued LCWD Customer,
Due to ongoing technical issues with our current billing payment processor, the Lassen County Waterworks District No. 1 will soon be transitioning to a new provider, Nexbillpay (in partnership with Redline Data Systems). We do not yet have an exact effective date, but the switch is expected in the coming weeks. This change is designed to deliver more reliable, secure, and convenient payment services tailored for rural utilities like ours.
Important: Your account number, billing records, and customer information will remain exactly the same. We are only changing the payment processor — our billing software and records are not changing.
Key Benefits of the New System
- Improved AutoPay Reliability – Your recurring payments will be more secure and dependable, with customer banking information safely maintained on Nexbillpay’s servers with no risk of exposure.
- E-Check (ACH) Payments Now Accepted – Pay directly from your bank account easily and securely.
- Expanded Payment Options – In addition to credit/debit cards, you can now use Apple Pay, Google Pay, Venmo, PayPal, and more for greater flexibility.
- Real-Time Payment Updates – Payments are reflected instantly, keeping your account balance accurate and up-to-date. This helps avoid issues during any disconnect periods and ensures you always know where you stand.
- Enhanced Notifications & Communication – Receive billing/payment notifications, emergency alerts, and warnings via email, text (Text2Pay), or automated phone (IVR). Text2Pay even lets you make secure payments via text without internet access.
- 24/7 Online Bill Presentment – View detailed billing information anytime through a mobile-friendly customer portal with secure online payments.
- Stronger Security & Account Management – Advanced security features protect your data, with options for linked accounts and easy management of your profile and payment history.
What This Means for You
Your water and sewer service will continue without any interruption. Mailed bills and in-person or mail payments remain unaffected. Your account number and billing information will stay exactly the same.
If you currently use AutoPay, online payments, or have saved payment methods:
- You will need to update or re-enroll your payment information in the new system. Clear, step-by-step instructions will be provided directly by the Lassen County Waterworks District.
- Recurring AutoPay setups will not transfer automatically and must be re-established for continued convenience.
For your protection: All official instructions and communications about this transition will come directly from the Lassen County Waterworks District No. 1 — via your bill, our website (lcwd1.org), phone calls from our office, or email from billing@lcwd1.org. Please do not respond to any unsolicited messages, texts, or links claiming to be from the new processor. If you are ever unsure, contact us directly using the information on your bill or at the bottom of this notice.
Updated payment instructions and enrollment guidance will be included on your next bill and posted on lcwd1.org. Watch for official communications from the District.
We have selected Nexbillpay because it specializes in serving rural utilities across the country (currently supporting more than 1,500 providers) and offers a fully integrated, reliable solution designed to simplify payments and improve the customer experience. The exact timing of the switch will be confirmed in upcoming official District communications. We apologize for any inconvenience during this transition and thank you for your patience as we implement these important improvements.
